FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is from 3:00 PM and check-out is by 10:00 AM. Early check-in or a late check-out can be added for $25 each, subject to availability.

Is breakfast included?

Breakfast isn’t served on-site, but you’re just steps from the 24-hour Nicollet Diner, so you can eat on your own schedule. Complimentary coffee is available in the common area.

What does “shared bath” mean for the Estate Rooms?

Estate Rooms are well-appointed queen rooms that share a clean, well-maintained bathroom rather than having a private en-suite. Every other room at 300 Clifton has a private en-suite.

What’s the difference between the Main Mansion rooms and the Carriage House rooms?

The Main Mansion rooms — Crystal Mansion, Georgian, Grand Edwardian, and Something Special — are the larger, grand rooms inside the historic mansion, each with a private en-suite. The Carriage House rooms — Coachman’s, Hayloft, and the Blacksmith’s Forge — are cozier, one-of-a-kind themed rooms, also with private en-suites (the Forge even has its own private garden patio). The Estate Rooms are the most affordable and share a bath.

Do the guest rooms have air conditioning?

Yes — all guest rooms have air conditioning.

Is there WiFi?

Yes — complimentary WiFi is available throughout the mansion.

Is there a 24-hour front desk, and how do I reach staff?

300 Clifton is a privately operated historic mansion, so there isn’t a 24-hour front desk. Staff are on-site during the day, and you’ll have a phone number to reach someone after hours if you need anything. Your check-in details are sent before arrival.

Is there parking?

Yes — convenient guest parking is available, with details and directions included in your pre-arrival information.

Where are you located?

300 Clifton Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55403, in the historic Loring Park neighborhood — minutes from downtown, the Walker Art Center, and Eat Street.

Can we book the hot tub or movie room?

Yes — both the hidden garden hot tub and Gertrude’s Cistern movie lounge are private, bookable experiences you can add to your stay.

Can we rent the whole mansion?

Yes — 300 Clifton is available for weddings, retreats, reunions, and private events. See the Weddings & Whole-House page to request dates.

Are children or pets welcome?

Children are welcome at 300 Clifton. We’re not able to accommodate pets.

Do you host weddings?

Yes, a limited number each year so each celebration gets the mansion, the gardens, and our full attention.

How do I get the best rate?

Book directly with 300 Clifton. The Midweek Escape gives 15% off automatically (no code), and booking direct lets you add experiences to your stay.

How many guest rooms does 300 Clifton have?

Eight distinct guest room types across the Main Mansion and the Carriage House, from the affordable Estate Rooms to the king Georgian and Crystal Mansion rooms.

Is 300 Clifton historic?

Yes — it’s the 1906 Eugene J. Carpenter Mansion, on the National Register of Historic Places and considered the finest example of Georgian architecture in Minnesota.
