Thanksgiving week is when Minneapolis flips the switch on the holidays, and the long weekend after it is packed: a Timberwolves game Friday night, the Vikings on Sunday, a Guthrie holiday classic, and a major fashion exhibition at Mia. If you are coming to town, 300 Clifton is a historic Georgian mansion in Loring Park where you can sleep in a real room with a story, not a chain-hotel box. Here is how the weekend of Nov. 26–29, 2026 stacks up, early enough to plan it properly.

Friday, Nov. 27: Timberwolves at Target Center
The Minnesota Timberwolves host the Memphis Grizzlies at Target Center on Friday, Nov. 27, according to Meet Minneapolis’s Thanksgiving week guide. It is a natural way to end the holiday: leave the leftovers behind and head downtown for a night game. Tip-off time and tickets are on the team’s official schedule, so confirm those before you book dinner.
Sunday, Nov. 29: Vikings vs. Falcons at U.S. Bank Stadium
The Vikings face the Atlanta Falcons at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday, Nov. 29, per the same Meet Minneapolis guide. Sunday-night game or afternoon kickoff, you will want a room for Saturday and Sunday nights and a slow morning in between. If you want a post-game soak, our hot tub guide explains how the four-season tub works.
All weekend: A Christmas Carol at the Guthrie
The Guthrie Theater’s A Christmas Carol runs Nov. 11 through Dec. 27, 2026 on the Wurtele Thrust Stage, and tickets are on sale on the Guthrie’s website. The theater page does not list specific Thanksgiving-weekend performances in the text we could see, so check the calendar for exact showtimes. We wrote a full piece on staying near A Christmas Carol at the Guthrie if the theater is your anchor.
All weekend: Paris Couture at Mia
The Minneapolis Institute of Art opened Paris Couture on Oct. 4, and it runs through Jan. 17, 2027 in the Target Galleries. Mia lists more than 80 haute couture pieces from the Palais Galliera, including work by Dior, Balenciaga, Schiaparelli and Grès. General admission to the exhibition is $20, and youth 17 and under are free. A rainy or snowy holiday Saturday is made for it.
Why stay at 300 Clifton
300 Clifton is the Eugene J. Carpenter Mansion, a National Register property in Loring Park, with distinct rooms including the Crystal Mansion, Georgian, Grand Edwardian, Coachman’s, Blacksmith’s Forge and Hayloft. After a day of games and galleries, the four-season garden hot tub is open under the stars, and winter is when it earns its keep. Our guests also receive two vouchers listed on our vouchers page: a $20 dining voucher for the Pillsbury Club and a $20 voucher toward a ride on Minneapolis Trolley Tours, each per stay. Check that page for the current terms.

Book early for the long weekend
Thanksgiving weekend rooms with a stadium and a Target Center game on the same weekend tend to go first. Pick your nights, then book directly at 300 Clifton and we will see you in Loring Park. If you are staying longer than a weekend, our sister property Oakland’s on 9th offers furnished month-to-month studios downtown.
